There are many products and books as well as television shows centered on organization. There is something very important about running an organized life, and that is the ability to think clearly. When you invest the time and the focus into organization, you tend to feel in control and centered -- within that area of your life. Apply these same principles to your sales structure and your confidence in your skills will increase.

Many times being unorganized will cost a sale. Some good ways to stay organized are described below.

Planners

Perhaps you forgot to follow-up, you didn't follow up in a timely manner or at a specified time. Keep a calendar available for keeping up with appointments. Try not to use multiple calendars, as this tends to get confusing. Consult your calendar daily, looking ahead for the next day's items in order to be better prepared. This also helps if you are going to be on the road the following day by allowing time to gather necessary items for follow-up calls or appointments.

It also helps if you have contact information readily available for your appointments. There are many different organizers for online/portable use. Pick one that allows the best organization for your sales process.

Store all information pertaining to a prospect/client in one central location. This makes it easier to keep track of communications, questions, requests from the client/prospect, and related research. When this information is easily and quickly accessible, you will have more time to offer your products and services and be better positioned to make value-added suggestions to your prospects and clients.

An organization should also have its current sales and marketing materials available in a central location. This eliminates the time needed to track down a particular marketing piece and send it to an interested prospect.
